A short-stay Schengen visa from the UK is lodged at the visa centre named by that country — TLS, VFS or BLS — not at a random embassy walk-in desk. You apply to the country that is your main destination, or the first Schengen country you enter if the nights are equal. Book the slot on the official site only. Do not buy guaranteed appointments from a personal inbox or a reseller who cannot name the centre.
Before biometrics, the file usually needs a passport with enough validity and blank pages, UK residence proof, the completed form, travel dates, accommodation or an invitation, proof of funds, and travel medical insurance of at least €30,000 covering the whole Schengen Area for the full stay, including hospital treatment and repatriation. Names on the certificate must match the passports. Declare pre-existing medical conditions before the policy starts. Start six to eight weeks before travel when you can.
